Protecting Research Results
The Universidad Autónoma de Madrid generates research results that need to be protected before being potentially transferred to socio-economic sectors interested in making use of them.
Aware of the current importance of protecting technology adequately in terms of industrial and intellectual property rights (Research Results Protection) in order to assign due value to knowledge and attract possible commercial partners for its exploitation, the Office of Research Results Transfer (OTRI) at the FUAM provides advice to the UAM and associated companies on the different means of protection.
Our legal and technical advice includes assessing whether the research results can be protected, identifying the best way of doing so from all possibilities available, informing the researcher of the steps to take and managing the protection process. We also settle any doubts on marketing the results as a means of transferring an offer of innovative ideas in constant renewal to the business sector.
We promote and manage the industrial property of the UAM, from the application for property ownership (under the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid’s name, since the university finances the costs of processing the application; the researchers appear as inventors), to the promotion and sourcing of finance and the transfer of research results, marketing the results to end up with licensing contracts for property ownership with companies and institutions.
